Chaning how they are used.... |

I read an article a couple of months ago that talked about wind turbines and their unexpected effects on wild life, bats specifically.
Apparently the turbines create a slight vacuum effect and bats have died from a sudden case of the bends when the air pressure around their little bodies changes.
To avoid this problem, turbines have been altered to stop turning when the wind slows to a certain level, and this has begun to alleviate the problem.
Have you heard of other changes to wind turbines that have helped preserve wildlife?

I ahvent ehard anything like that.
Iknow that on one ridge wheer they ut teh turbines the newly introopduced elk wont go theer and it was a perfect area for breeding.
Another keeps certain nesting birds away and a few eagles have been hurt. And many of teh linemen that leep tabs on teh turbines became hunters and catch prey out of season. so it hasnt helped in some areas.

Well, it is not just the bats which are being affected ,it was the whole migratory species birds which are affected. However there is an international body which regulates the wind turbine construction and saves the bird. And there is no need to worry about wind turbines now.

Ofc there will be some loss in some way then generating energy from something. In this case it is birds/bats.
Wind energy without harm would not be possible... too much security would cause harm for generating energy.
